In the throes of travel plans for 2026? Don’t miss events in these world-class destinations:
Barcelona, Spain
On June 10, 2026, the magnificent Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família (more commonly known as La Sagrada Família) in Barcelona will officially become the world’s tallest church. Widely regarded as one of Antoni Gaudí’s most important architectural creations, the church will be topped by the Tower of Jesus Christ. The date is significant because it marks a full century after Gaudí’s death. In fact, visitors can enjoy a year of celebrations including concerts, exhibitions and guided tours. And, as part of Almanac Barcelona hotel’s programming, guests can enjoy The Private Invitation to Catalan Modernism, which includes exclusive, guided tours of Gaudí’s Secret Park (Colònia Güell). Get there with Delta’s new non-stop route to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN).
Nantucket, Massachusetts
In Nantucket, book a stay at historic Jared Coffin House, once a captain’s mansion where Moby Dick author Herman Melville slept during his first stay on the island. Next year is the 175th anniversary of the Moby Dick tale, and visitors can immerse themselves in Melville’s novel world at Whaling Museum. More than 30,000 maritime artifacts include a 46-foot sperm whale skeleton, along with exhibits documenting Nantucket’s status as a whaling industry hub.
Cork, Ireland
In Cork, Ireland, choose River Lee Hotel — part of the Doyle Collection — as your base. Stay after July, and you’ll experience the hotel’s redesign, which will include the introduction of the property’s suite category spanning 181 accommodations. The property is perfectly positioned overlooking the River Lee, within walking distance of city center. There, visitors can explore the new multisensory gallery opening at Cork Public Museum, and 25 independently owned dining venues.
Napa Valley, California
In Napa Valley, preparations are underway to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Judgement of Paris, when two local wines rated higher than French wines in a gasp-worthy blind tasting that rocked the wine world. Relive that achievement at Chateau Montelena, whose 1973 Chardonnay scored first among whites and 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon earned top honors among reds. Board the Napa Valley Wine Train for the Legacy Experience, which pairs serene views of vineyard landscapes with tastings and historical context. In fall, there’s a new culinary festival launching: The Napa Valley Standard, with a focus on the chefs, vintners and others behind Napa’s enduring allure.
Seychelles
In Seychelles, the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will take place in May. The new Seychelles Made Act means it’s easier than ever to find souvenirs and other products that have been authenticated as locally produced. Get there onboard Aqua Lares, the sixth vessel to join the Aqua Expeditions fleet. Launching in February, this ship is a luxury, 15-suite expedition yacht offering five- to 14-night routes through the Inner Islands, then into the far-flung Outer Islands and Aldabra Atoll before heading to Zanzibar and Tanzania.
