New York state beckons travelers this winter with a host of cozy offerings.

Check out new and upcoming hotel openings throughout the state. The Henson recently opened in the Catskills. Hotel Brookemere debuts Jan. 1. La Tourelle Hotel, Bistro and Spa in the Finger Lakes is under new ownership and plans to reveal renovations in March 2025.

Many of the best ski areas in New York enhance facilities and programming this winter, including Gore Mountain, Holiday Mountain, Mount Peter Ski Area and HoliMont Ski Resort. Attend the first-ever Adirondack Winter Pride Weekend in March 2025, with a lineup of ski-related programming. New York State Pride Ski Weekend returns to the Catskills Feb. 7–9. If ice skating is more your speed, visit The Ice at Canalside in Buffalo. This popular waterfront rink is currently open for the season.

Warm up with a tasty meal. Bella’s Brewery recently opened at Océane Vineyards, offering guests craft beer made with locally sourced ingredients. Bar, restaurant and brewery Gray Willow recently opened its doors in the Catskills region. Big Eddy Brewing Co. serves up beer, cider, wine, seltzers and cocktails alongside barbecue from nearby partner restaurant Smōkd.

Hotel Saint Augustine Review

Blending with its Montrose neighborhood like the indigenous and cultivated plants hugging the property’s walkways, the newly built Hotel Saint Augustine opened mid-January 2025. The first Bunkhouse hotel in Houston, Texas, is easily mistaken for garden apartments. Seventy-one guest rooms and suites encompass a tree-lined block.
