Despite not being a golfer or caring much about golf, I really enjoyed my time at last year’s Chicago Golf Show. A few weeks ago I had yet another great time at the event.
The 34th Chicago Golf Show is one of the largest golf shows in the Midwest, with more than 180 vendors and 4,500 square feet of demo area. More than 20,000 people were in attendance over the weekend.
Golf lovers were shown previews of new products including clubs, clothing, balls and more. There were thousands of other products to test as well, making it a golfer’s dream. Unlike some conventions, many products were at discounted rates.
One of the draws for me is meeting celebrity golf enthusiasts. This year, Baseball Hall of Famers Ryne Sandburg and Tim Raines were in attendance, along with Chicago Bears legends Emery Moorehead, Glen Kozlowski and Jim Morrissey.
World-class trick shot artist Peter Longo amazed all with his mastery of shots. Along with his golfing skills, he entertained the crowd with his knowledge of golf history.
The Shannon Rovers performed on stage after marching through the expo center. I love the bagpipes, and hearing the sweet music echo through the huge hall was awesome.
I might be one of the few non-golfers at the Golf Show, but I definitely enjoyed it as much as anyone. I’ll be back in 2018.
