A range of fascinating field seminars are in the line-up for spring, summer and fall in Yellowstone National Park, offered by the non-profit Yellowstone Association Institute. Seven new programs will celebrate the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary. Most programs are two or three days in duration, and all are taught by experts. Enrollment is kept limited (between 13 and 24 persons per program) in order to allow these short intensives to be most beneficial to participants. Programs include field excursions, classrooms presentations at either the Overlook Campus just beyond the park’s northern boundary or historic Lamar Buffalo Ranch in the wildlife-filled Lamar Valley. Each is rated according to activity level.

The special Centennial Seminars are Day Hiking Yellowstone’s Ancient Routes, Between a Rock and a Hard Place: Facing Geological Challenges in Yellowstone; An Artist Retreat: Reconnecting with The Natural World; Journaling in the Spirit of Lewis and Clark; 100 Ideas for Keeping a Travel Sketch Book; Yellowstone’s Geological Legacy; and Foundations of the National Park Service in Yellowstone. A few of the many other courses and programs on offer include Spring Babies; Who’s There: Owls in Yellowstone; Bears, Bones, Signs and Stories; Wolves: Reality and Myth; Hiking Northern Yellowstone’s Geology; The Art of the Illuminated Field Journal; Ghost Hotels; Crow Tribal Culture and Yellowstone; and Old Times at Old Faithful.
