Dubbed the Project Sunrise aircraft, Qantas revealed a first look at its inaugural flight between Sydney (SYD) and London (LHR), slated to be the longest non-stop passenger flight in the world. Originally scheduled to launch this year, the flight will now debut in the first half of 2027.
The flight will be operated via an Airbus A350-100, capable of flying up to 22 hours non-stop. Passengers will witness two sunrises while traveling more than 10,500 miles.
The Airbus A350-100 is expected to redefine air travel. It features six first suites in a 1-1-1 configuration, 52 business suites in a 1-2-1 configuration, 40 premium-economy seats in a 2-4-2 configuration and 140 economy seats in a 3-3-3 configuration.
The A350-100 will feature Qantas’ first in-flight WellbeingZone, between the economy and premium economy cabins. This zone gives passenger a space to enjoy specially curated, guided movements via onboard monitors and help themselves to a selection of refreshments. Sculpted walls and integrated handles in this section facilitate stretching.
First suites boast a full-length bed with a separate reclining armchair, large and flexible work and dining space for one or two people, full-length wardrobe, and several areas for personal storage.
Business suites come with a sliding door for additional privacy, a first for Qantas business suites, as well as a large dining table and work surface, increased storage options, and more. Passengers in all cabins have access to free WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.
The world’s longest flight is currently via Singapore Airlines from Singapore (SIN) to New York (JFK), totaling 18.5 hours in flight time. Qantas’ longest flight currently is from Perth (PER) to London, clocking in at 17.5 hours.

While still a work in progress, it is already a place that reflects the future of destination tourism spelled out in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. With enforced building codes dictated by the original Najdi villages of the region, it also serves as a more relaxed alternative to Riyadh’s futuristic downtown core.
