This week, Crystal Cruises introduced Treasures of the Tides, its most expansive World Cruise to date. The 150-night journey departs in 2028 aboard Crystal Symphony, making it the first time the ship has led a World Cruise itinerary since 2018.

The 2028 World Cruise will span 84 destinations across 39 countries on six continents, departing roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Jan. 11, 2028. The trip returns June 10. The trip also offers guests an option to disembark in Barcelona May 27.

Highlights of the cruise include first-time calls in Huahine, French Polynesia; Portland, Kangaroo Island, Albany and Geraldton in Australia; and inaugural visits to Nha Trang, Vietnam, and Mangalore, India. Throughout the World Cruise, guests will also be invited to a series of exclusive events, including special celebrations in Dubai, Ho Chi Minh City and Lima, with a spectacular finale.

“At Crystal, we create journeys that go beyond the itinerary,” saidMario Parodi, VP, Itinerary Planning, Crystal Cruises. “Treasures of the Tides is a celebration of cultural discovery and marks the first time Crystal Symphony will lead a World Cruise in more than five years. With new destinations like Huahine, Mangalore and Portland alongside iconic global ports, this sailing offers guests the opportunity to explore the world in a way that is intentional and deeply rewarding.”

Bookings open to the public May 29.

This recent world cruise announcement reveals a growing interest in immersive, long-term luxury cruising. More and more travelers seek experiences beyond the typical destinations, wishing to venture to far-flung places with fewer crowds. Particularly popular among retirees, world cruises are experiencing a surge in part because of the pandemic, as well as an increasing desire to explore the world at a slower pace.

Other cruise lines offering world cruises include Silversea, which announced its own 132-day world cruise in 2028 this past March. Last year, Regent Seven Seas Cruises not only revealed a 2027 world cruise, but also unveiled the suite of all suites onboard Seven Seas Splendor, allowing guests of this opulent, record-breaking suite to enjoy the best of the best.
