Vancouver’s annual Winterruption on Granville Island kicks off on Feb. 19–22. Enjoy a winter carnival filled with music, dance, food and arts. Featured performances include Axe Capoeira’s airborne acrobatics, a Meet Your Makers tour of the island’s spirits producers, a concert with Celso Mechado presented by Coastal Jazz, and Edible Canada’s Sustainable Seafood Market Dinner, presented in conjunction with the David Suzuki Foundation.
Overlapping Winterruption’s dates is the Vancouver International Wine Festival, Feb. 20–March 1. Now in its 37th year and one of North American’s most treasured wine festivals, the event hosts more than 170 participating wineries — translating to in excess of 1,750 wines waiting to be poured. Over 50 events are planned, with wine seminars, winery dinners, wine minglers and a focus on Syrah and Australia, this year’s theme country. The Bacchanalia Gala will take place on Friday, Feb. 20 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Tickets are currently on sale.
