Our thoughts go out to those impacted by the recent natural disasters in the Caribbean, including Hurricanes Irma, Jose and Maria, and the back-to-back earthquakes in Mexico. Here are seven reasons we love these destinations, with some ways you can help support those negatively affected.

Food: A fusion of culinary traditions around the world, Caribbean cuisine is known for its diverse flavors. From jerk chicken and ackee in Jamaica, to Costa Rican casados and Puerto Rican pasteles, the Caribbean offers some of the most delicious dishes and freshest fruit and seafood anywhere in the world.

Adventure: Climb waterfalls in Jamaica, try windsurfing on the calm waters of the Dominican Republic, sail the British Virgin Islands and dive off the shores of the Cayman Islands. The Caribbean is home to some of the most exciting outdoor adventures, and each island offers its own unique experiences.

Nightlife: It’s not all surf and sun in the Caribbean (though there is a lot of it). It is also home to some of the liveliest nightlife scenes in the world. Kick back and enjoy some live reggae, grab a drink in the sand at a beach bar and sip rum punch, as the Caribbean comprises some of the world’s leading rum producers.

Relaxation: When you’re in search of some quality rest and relaxation, there’s nowhere like the Caribbean. With hundreds of small, private islands, sunshine, ocean breezes and natural sounds of the surf, serenity is easily attainable. The islands are also home to world-class spas and wellness retreats.

Culture: In addition to its beaches, nightlife and natural beauty, the Caribbean islands’ distinctive, eclectic cultures bring us back time and again. From its rich colonial history to its native traditions, the islands boast stunning architecture, lively music and a vibrant art and fashion scene.
