Add Québec, Canada, to your 2023 travels, as the city sees exciting new things happening. Québec recently rolled out an impressive list of one-of-a-kind experiences for travelers to enjoy:
Art and History
Canadian Malartic Mine
Canadian Malartic Mine opens its doors to visitors with a new partnership with Musée minéralogique de I’Abitibi-Témiscagmingue. Get the chance to discover this open-pit gold mine, the largest of its kind in Canada. Two guides accompany visitors on a tour, explaining every aspect of the mine operations. Start off learning about the background of the Canadian Malartic project before going on an exploration of the region’s geology at Mineralogical Museum. Afterward, visitors take a bus to the mine to tour the plant, see where crushed rock is sent for processing, learn about the mine’s environmental measures and see the massive mining pit.
Cité Mémoire in Charlevoix
Beginning in late June, Cité Mémoire, an outdoor multimedia video extravaganza, lights up many of Charlevoix’s spectacular destinations. The first Cité Mémoire performance is an artistic, playful and poetic journey through an enchanting setting, bringing the history of Charlevoix to life. Local legends are portrayed by well-known actors and personalities. The new attraction features 60 points of interest, six augmented-reality experiences, four projections, a podcast and a free mobile app.
Adventure
New Climbing Center
Recently, Riki Bloc, a climbing cooperative, acquired Saint-Yves church and plans to transform it into an indoor climbing center, set to open in August. The space will be 10 times larger than the cooperative’s previous downtown location and brings climbing competitions to the venue. The center will feature a café, boutique and equipment rental center.
Mountain Biking
The mountains of Québec are great for mountain biking. The sport has grown in recent years and, to meet demand, the 2023 season builds on the trend with upgrades and new features coming to mountain biking networks in Québec’s ski areas.
Festivals
Celebrating the Arts
A brand-new arts festival runs July 14–16 in six heritage sites in greater Kamouraska. Inspired by Centre d’Art de Kamouraska, Archipel Festival brings 40 renowned artists from the region together. Over three days, the artists showcase local architectural gems.
Unique Accommodations
Sleep on an Alpaca Farm

Jun 3, 2025Now’s the Time to See Giza, the Nile and Beyond
All archaeology-obsessed eyes turned hopefully toward Egypt earlier this year when the highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo finally began welcoming visitors after construction delays, funding roadblocks and political upheaval in the region (among other factors) conspired to keep things delayed for many long years. The museum’s cherry on the top is slated to open this summer, with the July opening of the museum’s 20-plus-years-in-the-making Tutankhamen galleries and accompanying cache of some 5,000 artifacts and treasures from the boy king’s tomb.

As I write this letter, I am halfway across the Atlantic Ocean on my return from an epic golf trip in Ireland. The weather was magnificent: sunshine and no rain ... quite unusual by Irish standards. May 28, 2025Williamsburg Inn Review
You don’t have to love brass chandeliers or brocade to appreciate what Williamsburg Inn does best: delivering a polished, unpretentious stay amid America’s most iconic living history museum. This is where you check in for traditional luxury without feeling like you’re trapped in a time capsule. The Queen stayed here (twice), and so did Eisenhower, but you’re not here to make history. You’re here to enjoy it, on your own terms.
