Virtuoso, the international network of luxury travel agencies, unveiled the 2016 Virtuoso Luxe Report, an annual survey anticipating emerging luxury travel developments and destinations. The network’s elite advisors are surveyed to offer insights into the decisions of the world’s most upscale travelers.
According to Virtuoso travel advisors, the five must-have experiences of 2016 are:
- Discovering untouched, unique places like Cuba and Bhutan
- Creating unforgettable memories, especially with extended family or for milestone celebrations
- Crossing something off the bucket list and not waiting any longer for a trip of a lifetime
- Pushing the boundaries of a traveler’s comfort zone
- Enjoying closer-to-home experiences
While Cuba topped the list of emerging destinations for 2016, Italy topped the family travel list of destinations. Adventure travelers will opt for South Africa next year, while some less traditional destinations, including Mongolia and Iran, were also mentioned.
