Viking revealed the delivery of its newest river ship, Viking Gyda, which will sail exclusively on Portugal’s Douro River. The new ship accommodates 106 guests across 53 staterooms, joining sister ships Viking Helgrim, Viking Hemming, Viking Osfrid and Viking Torgil, bringing Viking’s Douro River fleet to five ships.
Viking Gyda was built specifically for the Douro River and popular 10-day Portugal’s River of Gold itinerary. The ship also features a lounge, a bar, Aquavit Terrace, a library and shop, Sun Deck, and more. All upper and middle deck staterooms boast a full-sized veranda or French balcony.
Looking ahead, Viking plans to take delivery of 26 additional river ships by 2028 and 10 additional ocean ships by 2031. With these orders, Viking will have 112 river ships by 2028 and 23 ocean and expedition ships in 2031.
