United Airlines is the first U.S. airline to launch a rapid COVID-19 testing program for travelers. Beginning Oct. 15, United customers traveling from San Francisco International Airport to will be able to take a rapid test at the airport or a self-collected, mail-in test before their trip.

The rapid test, Abbott’s ID NOW COVID-19 test, is administered by GoHealth Urgent Care and partner Dignity Health. Test results are available in approximately 15 minutes, and offer United customers same-day results before departing San Francisco (SFO). The other option for United customers is a mail-in test, administered by Color, which should be taken at least 10 days ahead of their scheduled flight — results must be provided within 72 hours of their trip.

The airline worked with Hawai’ian officials to ensure passengers (both tourists and locals) providing a negative COVID-19 test wouldn’t be subjected to Hawai’i’s 14-day quarantine requirement. United currently offers daily service between San Francisco and Honolulu (HNL), Maui (OGG) and Kona (KOA). Service to Hawai’i will increase Oct. 15, with the resumption of service to Lihue (LIH) and additional flights.

“Our new COVID testing program is another way we are helping customers meet their destinations’ entry requirements, safely and conveniently,” said Toby Enqvist, chief customer officer, United. “We’ll look to quickly expand customer testing to other destinations and U.S. airports later this year to complement our state-of-the-art cleaning and safety measures that include a mandatory mask policy, antimicrobial and electrostatic spraying and our hospital-grade HEPA air filtration systems.”

About the Rapid Tests

United customers can schedule their test in advance online. The test will then be taken at GoHealth Urgent Care’s testing facility, located at the international terminal, open daily 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Results will be available in 15 minutes.

“We are excited about expanding our partnership with United and continuing to support their proactive safety measures,” said Todd Latz, CEO, GoHealth Urgent Care. “Our on-site, real- time testing for passengers is yet another example of GoHealth’s nationwide efforts to fight the spread of COVID-19 and ensure a safer return to normal activities and business operations.”

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
