United Airlines announces its largest-ever international route expansion from its San Francisco (SFO) hub, including additional flights to Seoul (INC) and new flights to Canada, India, Australia and more.
Beginning in 2019, the airline will offer non-stop, year-round service to Toronto, Canada (YYZ), and Melbourne, Australia (MEL), while adding seasonal service to New Delhi (DEL). United will also begin non-stop service to Auckland (AKL), Tahiti (PPT) and Amsterdam (AMS) in 2019.
“This route expansion solidifies United’s position at San Francisco as the gateway airline serving destinations across the Pacific, the continental United States, as well as to Europe and beyond,” said Oscar Munoz, CEO, United Airlines.
“These new routes will expand international travel to and from San Francisco International Airport, helping us forge stronger connections between our city and other major destinations around the globe,” said U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein.
United Airlines added 12 new international destinations from its San Francisco hub since 2013 and operates more than 300 flights from the airport every day. United now serves 29 international destinations from its San Francisco gateway.
San Francisco–Amsterdam service will commence March 30, 2019, and will be operated with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner; San Francisco–Melbourne service will commence Oct. 29, 2019; San Francisco–New Delhi will commence Dec. 5, 2019, and will be operated by a 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft; and San Francisco–Toronto will operate twice daily beginning March 31, 2019, and will be operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
