Located in Darby, Montana in the Rocky Mountain’s Bitterroot Range, stunning Triple Creek Ranch — a Relais & Chateaux property — is set to welcome winter wanderers with a selection of holiday season getaways. For Thanksgiving, chef Jacob Leatherman will serve up a traditional dinner with an emphasis on the flavors of the West. Accompanying activities include holiday cooking school, a wine pairing hosted by vintners Cyril and Blakesley Chappellet, an archery tournament and a puzzle challenge featuring Stave jigsaws. From Dec. 22–27, the ranch celebrates Christmas in Montana with winter hikes, horseback riding and a visit by Western artist Carol Hagan. Guests can decorate their cabins with fresh evergreens and ornaments from the ranch’s own collection or bring their own from home. Chef Leatherman will prepare celebratory dinners for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

On Dec. 31, a Western New Year’s Eve Party will include a special five-course dinner paired with a selection of outstanding wines. After dinner, guests will move to Elk Meadow for festive fireworks and Champagne. Winter escapes to the ranch also feature Jessie Royer, a professional musher and veteran racer who’s competed (and finished) 13 Iditarod Races in Alaska. Already training her next team of competition dogs, Royer will be on hand to teach the finer points of harnessing and hitching a dog team to a sled, how to drive and maneuver, and the essential skills of starting and stopping. Dog sledding season at Triple Creek Ranch runs mid-December through February of 2016.
