Belmond is bringing the first luxury sleeper train to South America. The Belmond Andean Explorer will traverse Peru starting May 2017 on one of the highest rail routes on the planet, traveling from Cusco to Lake Titicaca and Arequipa in the Peruvian Andes. The four excursion options explore the capital of the ancient Inca Empire, the highest plains of the Andes, remote villages, Lake Titicaca, condor habitats and UNESCO World Heritage sites. Guests will enjoy one- and two-night journeys aboard an opulent train designed to include Peruvian hand-woven fabrics and Andean slate. The 68 guests can choose from two double cabins, 20 twin cabins or 12 bunk bed cabins. Chefs at Belmond Hotel Monasterio in Cusco design seasonal menus for the two dining cars. The observation car provides an open-air look at the surrounding scenery, while the lounge car offers the perfect setting to relax. Prices for the excursion begin at $462 per person and include all meals, beverages and select experiences.
