Relocation experts at My Baggage recently conducted a study to determine the top U.S. states for golfers by analyzing the distribution of golf courses, driving ranges, tournaments and golf coaches per 100,000 residents in every state, along with the number of platinum clubs. From there, each location was assigned a score and ranked accordingly.
Top 10 Best U.S. States for Golfers

- Illinois
- Maryland
Florida scored 64.42 out of 100, with its 1,131 golf courses amounting to the most in any state. It also boasts the highest number of available PGA coaches and the most Platinum Clubs in America — more than double that of California.
“While states like Florida hold a high concentration of courses and coaching; golfers in places like Louisiana, ranked lower in resources by the recent study, might find themselves drawn to trying golf vacations to renowned destinations. They may even add a competitive edge to their golfing experience by testing their skills in tournaments across state lines,” said Paul Stewart, managing director, My Baggage. “For passionate golfers, this ranking suggests a compelling reason to explore beyond their home turf, especially when they help stretch your money further.
