Booking.com released a survey revealing the top stressors for frequent business travelers. It may be a given business travelers experience more stress than leisure travelers, but the reason behind their worries vary. Though 39 percent of the 4,500 business travelers across eight countries surveyed have positive feelings about business travel, 93 percent admit to experiencing stress at least once during their trip.

Among the top causes of stress are travel cancelations or delays and jet lag, with 47 and 42 percent being primarily concerned about these issues respectively. Foreign business travel is certainly more frustrating than domestic, with travelers worrying about language barriers, unfamiliar surroundings, cultural differences and being far away from family and friends. The study showed men were more anxious about being away from their loved ones than women, by a margin of 7 percent.

“While business travel has so many positives, including the opportunity to experience new cultures, broaden horizons and the chance to meet colleagues face-to-face, the logistics of business travel can get in the way,” said Ripsy Bandourian, director of product development, Booking.com for Business. “Airport queues and delays, the accommodation at your destination lacking home comforts and lack of personal time can add a layer of personal stress.”
