The Thompson brand arrives in Washington, D.C., with the opening of Thompson Washington D.C. The Navy Yard-located hotel offers 225 guestrooms and suites, as well as restaurant and bar concepts. The 11-story, new-build property is a lifestyle hotel with offerings for both guests and locals, just a mile from Capitol Hill and major D.C. attractions. It is part of an up-and-coming waterfront development, The Yards, which encompasses retailers, restaurants and cultural attractions.
Guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the Anacostia River and Nationals Park. Guestrooms are furnished in a Mid-Century Modern aesthetic, with upholstered custom headboards, green onyx and marble bathroom vanity tops and 400-thread-count linens. In-room snacks are locally sourced.
The property’s signature restaurant is Maialino Mare, sister to the original Maialino restaurant in New York City. The menu focuses on seasonal and local ingredients, seafood, pasta, Italian wines and rustic desserts. A rooftop bar, Anchovy Social, offers seafood-centric shareable bites and seasonal cocktails.
“We are proud to introduce the sophisticated and evocative Thompson Washington D.C. to the nation’s capital,” said Sherry Abedi, general manager, Thompson Washington D.C. “Thompson Hotels is a brand that has always boldly pushed the norms of a traditional hotel experience, and we look forward to super-serving our global visitors, World of Hyatt members, and the Washington, D.C. community with a stylish destination to eat, drink, connect and relax. We have already felt a warm welcome from the neighborhood’s residents and local businesses.”
