While scrolling the Hotel Tonight app for a hotel in London, The Strand Palace Hotel caught my eye. The price, location and availability were perfect, and I was able to book our stay in the cab on the way to the hotel.
Upon arrival, just 10 minutes after booking, the doorman helped us inside with our bags.
At check-in, we overheard the man next to us mention he would only be there for the night. He explained he was meeting with clients who recommended the hotel for its ideal location. My sister and I soon found this to be true, as we were right in the center of the theater district.
The Strand Palace Hotel is around the corner from Covent Garden and a short walk from Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street and Oxford Street. A short walk in the other direction took us to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and South Bank.
We shared one room with a queen-sized bed; blackout window shades; a spacious, raised tub-shower; and a wardrobe with a safe. The room was efficient, comfortable for two and perfect for our four-night stay.
We didn’t take advantage of the 24-hour room service or fitness center, but the on-site bar and Indian restaurant were a nice addition to our stay.
The concierge was helpful in giving us tips for tours, navigation through the city and detailed directions through Victoria Station to Gatwick Airport.
Our last-minute booking at The Strand Palace Hotel could not have worked out better. At an affordable price, we had a cozy room in the heart of London’s West End.
