Though closed to the public January through March, the classic Ram’s Head Inn, located in the heart of Shelter Island, still offers the opportunity for guests to visit during the cold winter months.

For a special rate of $1,700, the property provides the chance to book private winter weekends. Guests taking advantage of the special are handed the keys for the weekend and given exclusive access to each of the charming rooms for friends and family.

The second floor of the spacious property offers 17 guestrooms of various types designed to capture the history and charm of the waterfront inn as well as provide relaxed and accessible luxury. Accommodations include five rooms with a private bath, four bedrooms with a shared bath and four two-bedroom suites.

From April through December, the Ram’s Head Inn is teeming with outdoor opportunities, including recreational fun at the property’s tennis court that also functions as a basketball court, a private 800-foot beach, hammocks and Adirondack chairs. Guests have access to a fleet of sailboats, paddle boards, kayaks and swimming moorings.

The Ram’s Head Inn is also home to an acclaimed farm-to-table restaurant led by Chef Joe Smith, featuring a seasonally-focused menu boasting fresh local produce, game and seafood through Dec. 31.
