The Langham Hospitality Group officially started construction on the new The Langham, Venice, transforming the historic former Casino Mocenigo building and Murano glass factory on the island of Murano into one of the finest deluxe resorts in Venice.

The Langham, Venice, expected to open in 2026, will combine modern luxury with authentic Venetian heritage in a revitalization project slated to become a new heritage landmark. Located directly on the Venetian Lagoon, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the 133-room hotel will include 30 suites. Matteo Thun & Partners, based in Milan and Munich, will restore the frescoes from the original 16th-century casino, as well as redevelop the 20th-century industrial Murano glass factory buildings.

“The Langham, Venice is an integral part of Langham Hospitality Group’s global strategic expansion,” said Brett Butcher, CEO, Langham Hospitality Group. “The ground-breaking transitions from concept to creation reinforcing our commitment to bring to life the iconic Langham signatures in one of Europe’s most important cultural hubs.”

The property will retain and restore the original façades of the old glass furnace buildings, including original wooden trusses. Modern touches include a restaurant with alfresco and indoor seating, and an exclusive rooftop bar. Resort organizers for The Langham’s social and corporate events will have a choice of two venues in a historic setting, one with stunning laguna views and one in the central courtyard with both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Guests will want to experience The Langham’s signature traditions, including afternoon tea, which honors a tradition originating at The Langham, London in 1865. The resort will also offer a private cooking school for guests wishing to take home, or have on site, a creative and tasty slice of Venice.

The restored buildings will wrap around a central private courtyard with a pool, a rare amenity in Venice, forming the heart of the resort. The architects have also designed a private and quiet green lawned garden with a 65-foot pool that will form the centerpiece of the garden. The pool will be used for swimming during the day, transforming at night with special lighting for evening cocktails and social events.

Hyatt Centric Las Olas Review

Today’s Fort Lauderdale is not the one you or your older relatives experienced in college; while beachfront surf shops along Fort Lauderdale Boulevard recall that colorful Spring Break era, Las Olas Boulevard embodies the city’s recent glow-up, particularly after the pandemic. In fact, it was spring 2020 when Hyatt Centric Las Olas opened its doors and played a major role in reshaping and rethinking Fort Lauderdale as a relaxed but lively vacation or business destination.

Now’s the Time to See Giza, the Nile and Beyond

All archaeology-obsessed eyes turned hopefully toward Egypt earlier this year when the highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo finally began welcoming visitors after construction delays, funding roadblocks and political upheaval in the region (among other factors) conspired to keep things delayed for many long years. The museum’s cherry on the top is slated to open this summer, with the July opening of the museum’s 20-plus-years-in-the-making Tutankhamen galleries and accompanying cache of some 5,000 artifacts and treasures from the boy king’s tomb.
