Located in the Sierra Foothills, The Holbrooke in Grass Valley and The National Exchange Hotel in Nevada City are ready to welcome summer guests with a vibrant Spring Gold getaway.

Recipients of the 2025 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award and 2025 Sunset Travel Awards, these historic properties invite travelers to experience the area in a themed escape. From May 15 to 17, guests will enjoy one night in each hotel, with an itinerary that includes options to explore the lore and legend of the Gold Rush era, tasting menus from Chef Alan Gosker at LOLA and Chef Robb Wyss at The Golden Gate Saloon, and cocktails served up in historic bars.

Here are highlights of the Spring Gold itinerary:

Day One

Check into Holbrooke Hotel and set off on a guided property tour with the hotel’s resident history expert, and enjoy a craft cocktail at Iron Door speakeasy. Later, settle in for a chef’s tasting dinner at Golden Gate Saloon.

Day Two

Relax over breakfast at Golden Gate Saloon, then tour Empire Mine. In the afternoon, head to Nevada City, just 4 miles away, to check into National Exchange Hotel. A private tour of historic Nevada Theatre and Sarah Coleman Murals precedes a haunted history tour and drinks at Nash. Dinner is a multicourse seasonal tasting menu at LOLA.

Day Three

A guided hike along Deer Creek Tribute Trail and breakfast at LOLA start the day, followed by a visit to local shops and galleries filling the downtown area.

This getaway includes two nights’ accommodation, daily continental breakfast, daily full breakfast and two chef’s tasting dinners, a hosted cocktail (or mocktail) at each hotel, guided historic hotel tours, guided scenic hike, visit to Nevada Theater and Empire Mine, Spring Gold welcome gift bag, and on-site host services from Trisha Cole.
