During a recent business trip to Tampa, I stayed at Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina. After a late arrival at Tampa International Airport, I ventured to the hotel, a convenient 15-minute drive from the airport.

What first struck me about the property was its size. The structure itself is one of the tallest buildings in Tampa, and the purple neon lights on its façade make it impossible to miss when the sun goes down. There were considerable renovations in progress during my stay, impressive given all the hotel already had to offer.

Built in 2000 and located directly on Hillsborough Bay, Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina currently houses 719 rooms and will offer 727 once renovations are complete. Complete additions to the property include new public spaces; a renovated lobby; meeting space; new standard guestrooms; 34 Stay Well rooms; and new cultural, social and gathering spaces.

As I walked into the hotel lobby I was immediately struck by its ornate, grandiose nature. You can’t help but stop and stare at the columns ascending far into the ceiling.

The property certainly makes good use of its waterside location. My room, on the 26th floor, allowed for an excellent view over the Garrison Channel. I was pleased to find plenty of space in my room, and the  interior was designed in a modern and welcoming way. The bathroom boasted an impressively spaced tiled shower along with a spacious sink area.

Without a doubt, I would choose to stay at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina again. I was welcomed by the staff; they immediately took interest in my journey and offered to help with accommodations in any way possible. My experience was superb, and I can only imagine what guests will be treated to once all renovations are finished.
