What started out as a hit band with harmony has since become a worldwide obsession. Now, fans can finally get their fill in Stockholm at a museum dedicated to all things ABBA. Memorabilia on display at ABBA The Museum includes concert costumes, photos, gold records, equipment from the legendary Polar Studio, video footage, member Benny Andersson’s piano and plenty more. Visitors can virtually sit in on a set courtesy of a holographic installation that gives the illusion of participating alongside ABBA during a concert performance.
Once you’re in Stockholm, getting to the museum is easy via city tram, bus, subway and ferry. And if you can hold a tune, the museum’s official group, The Choir, is auditioning for a one member. Until Feb. 7, belt out your best on video and upload the footage to the museum’s official Facebook page for a chance to live your rock star dream during an April performance at the Melody Hotel, located within the museum building. Choir Director Karin Bäckström will provide professional coaching, and airfare and hotel are covered by the museum. If you can’t sing, you can still enjoy the exhibits. And, museum tickets also allow entrance to the Swedish Music Hall of Fame, with exhibits and performances that explore the musical heritage of Swedish pop from 1920 to the present.
