Summer Gin Cocktail Recipes Inspired by Destinations Around the World

Sometimes our memories of trips to certain destinations and cities around the world become synonymous with a specific dish or drink we had there — whether it was sipping an Aperol Spritz on the Italian coast or cooling off with a gin and tonic in London, a good cocktail in particular elevates a destination.

Extend the destination cocktail inspiration this summer with these gin cocktail recipes inspired by places around the world. Each highlights an Empress 1908 Gin, making for the perfect travel-centric concoction:

Saint-Tropez, France: Empress 75

A twist on the French 75, this cocktail is bubbly, effervescent and elegant, much like Saint-Tropez’s beachside vibes with an effortless, sun-soaked glamour.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Empress 1908 Indigo Gin
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup
  • Sparkling wine
  • Lemon twist for garnish

Method: Shake on ice, fine strain into a chilled flute and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with lemon twist.

 

Tokyo, Japan: Jasmine Sour

Graceful and sulky, this cocktail is reminiscent of afternoon tea, much like Tokyo’s own deep appreciation for delicate, tea-inspired flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Empress 1908 Cucumber Lemon Gin
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz jasmine syrup
  • Egg white
  • Dried jasmine blossoms for garnish

Method: Add all ingredients to shaker tin and dry shake without ice. Add ice to tin and shake again to chill. Double strain into cocktail glass and garnish with dried jasmine blossoms.

Amalfi Coast, Italy: Sunset Spritz

Both the flavor and color of this drink mirror a summer sunset, reminiscent of golden hour on the Amalfi Coast where seaside views meet citrus groves.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Empress 1908 Indigo Gin
  • 3 oz Aperol
  • 3 oz prosecco (or club soda)
  • Fresh orange and lemon slices for garnish
  • Edible flowers, for garnish

Method: Fill a glass with crushed ice, add slices of fresh orange and lemon to glass, and pour in Aperol. Add gin and top with prosecco. Garnish and enjoy.

London, England: Garden Gimlet

Charm meets blooming gardens with this floral, London-inspired cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Empress 1908 Elderflower Rose Gin
  • 0.75 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 simple syrup

Method: Shake ingredients on ice, strain into chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass, and garnish with lavender sprig for aromatics.

Mykonos, Greece: Cucumber Blue

Light and herbal, this cooling cocktail is perfect for sunny days in Mykonos, or simply a summer day at home when you need a bit of Greek-style refreshment.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Empress 1908 Indigo Gin
  • Soda water
  • Cucumber
  • Mint
  • Cucumber ribbon and basil for garnish

Method: Muddle cucumber, basil and mint in the bottom of chilled rocks glass. Add ice and gin, top with soda water, and enjoy.
