The airline alliance is now offering themed itineraries in addition to its Round the World fares. Themed itineraries focus on food, world wonders, natural wonders, architecture, aquatic wonders, wetlands, sports, wine, romance, luxury and the world’s best hotels. In addition, Star Alliance updated its Round the World booking tool to allow travelers to choose an airport of their choice to begin their itinerary. Themed itineraries also allow for easy customization, if travelers decide to add or remove a destination. The new itinerary-booking tool is available in English, German and Japanese. Travelers can plan their themed itinerary online at any time. Social media integration allows for easy itinerary sharing. The tool issues electronic tickets; however, tickets are available through any Star Alliance member airline. Round the World fares offer a better value than one-way tickets on separate airlines following the same route. Prices vary by market, distance and flight class. Travel must begin and end in the same country and move in one direction, with minimal zigzagging. Itineraries must cross both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans once each. Travel can occur over a space of six months or a year.
