STAPLES Center in Los Angeles joins a growing list of facilities to achieve GBAC STAR facility accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council. Dubbed the gold standard of prepared facilities, GBAC STAR provides third-party validation that organizations undertake thorough cleaning, disinfection and infection prevention. Other facilities with the accreditation include Hard Rock Stadium in Miami; Orange County Convention Center in Orlando; and Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, Kansas.

Hard Rock Stadium, home to the Miami Dolphins, was the first public company to commit to earning the accreditation, and successfully completed 20 program elements with specific performance and guidance criteria to earn accreditation. As STAPLES Center hosts four professional teams, it became the first NBA, NHL and WNBA arena to receive the accreditation.

Orange County Convention Center is the second-largest convention facility in North America, while Overland Park Convention Center was recently named Best Small Convention Center in North America by EXHIBITOR magazine.

More than 2,400 facilities of all types and sizes are in the process of accreditation through GBAC STAR. Accreditations will renew annually to ensure facilities follow and improve upon procedures. Learn more about the process.
