Subterranean Berlin — a portion of it, at least — provides a unique exhibition venue called the Singuhr-Hoergalerie (sound gallery). Utilizing areas of the city’s historic water reservoirs in Prenzlaur Berg, the gallery continues to play host to a variety of international artists whose installations delve into the relationship between sound, light, motion and temperature.

Through Sept. 22, experience installations by artists Max Eastley and Jens Brand. Eastley’s Aeolian Circles, featured in the Large Reservoir, melds the notes of an exterior-mounted wind harp with kinetic objects contained within the bricked reservoir space, resulting in a multi-textured auditory experience.

In the Small Water Reservoir, Jens Brand’s Raumarbeit II – Planetenmaschine nach Potocnik is a continuation of his “world machines” series. Brand’s creation continuously records both itself and its observers, visually and acoustically. For both exhibits, the gallery is offering “long nights” on specific dates, staying open until midnight.
