A report from Chubb Travel Insurance reveals this year’s Singapore travel trends. Despite the country’s slow economy, 79 per cent of Singapore travellers are travelling twice yearly across all demographics. International travel is preferred, particularly around public holidays. However, during these international trips, 80 per cent of travellers experienced an unfortunate travel incident; these primarily included flight delays, illness and travel cancellations. When asked about their travel fears, Singaporeans reported theft as their top fear while travelling abroad. Injury and lost luggage followed not far behind. Travel fears were, however, divided by age group. Millennial travellers were most worried regarding theft and lost luggage, while older travellers were more worried regarding illness or injury during their trip. As is seen around the world, Singapore travellers are booking their travel online, as well as their travel insurance. Online travel buying is expected to peak this month.
