The world’s first Airbus A350-900ULR has been delivered to Singapore Airlines. The ultra-long-range aircraft will operate the Newark Liberty International Airport to Singapore(SIN) route beginning in October.
The new aircraft is the first of seven on order from Singapore Airlines. The aircraft is capable of flying up to 11,155 miles. The Singapore–Newark route is about 10,350 miles and will take about 18 hours, 45 minutes to complete.
“This is a proud moment for both Singapore Airlines and Airbus, not only because we have again strengthened our partnership, but also because we have pushed the limits with this highly advanced new aircraft to extend long-range flying to new lengths,” said Goh Choon Phong, CEO, Singapore Airlines. “The A350-900ULR will bring more convenience and comfort to our customers and will enable us to operate ultra-long-range flights in a commercially viable manner. It will help us boost our network competitiveness and further grow the Singapore hub.”
According to Singapore Airlines, the A350-900ULR was designed with comfort over long travel in mind. Higher ceilings, large windows and an extra-wide body are all features for a more comfortable trip.
The next aircraft will be used on the airline’s Singapore–Los Angeles (LAX) route.
