Delve underwater and discover some of the world’s most remote destinations at top diving sites in the western Pacific and Indian Oceans on an upcoming Silversea Cruises journey.
The ultra-luxury cruise line unveiled its inspiring collection of Scuba Diving Expedition Voyages for 2016 and 2017 on the 120-guest, all-suite Silver Discoverer, the latest addition to the line’s modern expedition fleet.
Throughout 2016 and 2017, the vessel will offer experienced divers 20 voyages to exotic locations like the Maldives, Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, the Palau archipelago and the Andaman Islands. Each destination features renowned diving spots with unique features like hidden caves, tunnels, coral fish and rare sea creatures.
“We’re delighted to offer our guests the opportunity to explore remote destinations both on land and underwater with this unique series of expedition voyages,” said Mark Conroy, managing director for the Americas, Silversea. “The Scuba Diving Expedition Voyages are designed to provide the most awe-inspiring deep sea adventures, but also include incredible destinations for snorkeling and onshore hiking explorations.”
The diving program is fully complimentary to guests sailing these Silver Discoverer journeys. Each program offers an on-board dive master and a team of experts like marine biologists, environmentalists, ecologists and geologists to provide guests with extensive knowledge of the regions.
To sail the Scuba Diving Expedition Voyages, guests need an Advanced Open Water Diver license or equivalent and must bring their own BCD vests and regulators. Silversea provides the weight belts, tanks, masks, and fins free of charge.

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
