During a recent visit to Texas, I stayed at the Sheraton North Houston at George Bush Intercontinental. The property is about a five-minute drive from George Bush Intercontinental Airport. When I landed, I called for the 24-hour complimentary shuttle and was at the front desk in no time.

The hotel recently completed a renovation, which is evident in all areas of the property. My room boasted all of the standard guestroom amenities including a very comfortable bed. The nightstand featured a side outlet, which made charging my phone convenient. Despite being near the airport, the sounds of planes overhead were not distracting.

On both mornings, I had the breakfast buffet at the hotel’s Drifters Bistro. As far as hotel breakfasts go, this was one of my favorites. The hot items were actually hot and did not look like they were sitting in warming dishes for hours. I sampled a variety of fruit and ordered coffee and juice. I still had coffee in my cup when I finished my meal, so the friendly attendant brought a to-go cup and refilled my coffee.

I took advantage of the fitness center during the last morning of my stay. It featured several cardio machines, mats, free weights, resistance bands and exercise balls. Towels and individually wrapped headsets sat on a shelf near the front door. I was the only guest in the fitness center for most of my visit, so I took my time moving from machine to machine.

Sheraton North Houston at George Bush Intercontinental is about 10 miles from downtown Houston. The central location to the airport was ideal for my stay, though you might find it inconvenient if you plan to spend most of your visit downtown. The friendly service, room quality and other hotel features make a stay at the Sheraton North Houston at George Bush Intercontinental worthwhile.
