Arrival/Check-In: A friend and I booked a wine and cheese pairing class at New York City’s Eataly for an autumn Friday and decided to make it an overnight getaway. Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel proved the perfect host.
After a late-morning train ride from Pennsylvania to New York and a short cab trip to the centrally located property, we soon found ourselves waiting at reception in the busy lobby. We were early and our rooms were not yet ready, so we stored our luggage and set out for lunch and an afternoon at the Museum of Modern Art. When we returned later, our room was ready. I checked us in and my friend grabbed our bags, and within minutes we were in the room.
Guest Quarters: Our double room held two beds separated by a large nightstand. The lamp had built-in electrical outlets, which I love. Immediately upon entering we found the bathroom to the left, offering a tub/shower, toilet and vanity. I was impressed by the amenities offered, which included a mini loofah — a first for me when it came to in-room amenities. There was ample space for two women to stretch out, spread our belongings and get ready without toppling over one another. Other features of the room included a dresser, a mounted TV and a cocktail table with two chairs.
Our room afforded us access to the 44th-floor Sheraton Club Lounge, offering private seating, city views, Starbucks coffee drinks and snacks throughout the day. We also enjoyed complimentary WiFi and a full breakfast spread.
Of note: My friend and I both remarked how quiet the room was and what a solid night of sleep we received, considering the hotel’s location smack dab in hectic and loud Times Square.
Services/Amenities: Sadly, my one-night stay didn’t allow for much exploration of the hotel, but for those with more time, there’s plenty to experience. The fitness center offers state-of-the-art equipment daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. On-site dining options include Hudson Market for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Hudson Market Bistro for dinner; [email protected] Café; Lobby Lounge & Library Bar; and room service. The hotel recently renovated its ample meeting and event space.
The Experience: For travelers to the Big Apple looking for a central location, Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel can’t be beat with its setting at the heart of Times Square. The property offers a quiet, comfortable stay close to all the action.

Welcome to Rhodes, a medieval treasure beautifully preserved throughout the centuries. Rhodes is the capital of the Dodecanese, an island ideal not only for those who want to relax, but also for those looking for an action-packed holiday! With its bright green hills, rich green valleys and uninterrupted line of golden beaches, Rhodes is truly a blessed place. “The sun island” has more sunshiny days and milder temperatures throughout the year than any other location in Greece. It is, after all, one of the country’s easternmost places and among the first to welcome summer on its impressive beaches. Add in the excellent facilities for tourism, the island’s special blend of cosmopolitan and traditional, and numerous cultural and archaeological sites, the most important being the Medieval (Old) Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and you’ve got the perfect holiday destination. While on Rhodes, don’t miss a daytrip to nearby Sými. An island of sponge divers and seamen, Sými used to have 30,000 inhabitants before the Second World War and was the richest island in the Dodecanese, despite its small size. Today, Sými attracts many visitors thanks to its beautifully preserved Neo-Classical buildings and the famous Archangel Michael monastery at Panormitis.

TAP Air Portugal is adding 15 new weekly flights from the United States and Canada by summer 2020, a new record for the carrier of 71 weekly flights between North America and Portugal.
Starting in November, guests at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru enjoy new all-pool water villas that offer twice as much outside space as indoor space. The villa expansions bring outdoor space to nearly 2,000 square feet across multiple “zones,” including sun decks, social spots, over-water hammocks, al fresco showers and dining areas. A 40-foot pool extends into the lagoon; nearby, a shaded, ocean-side living and dining pavilion offers unparalleled views.
