Arrival/Check-In: A friend and I booked a wine and cheese pairing class at New York City’s Eataly for an autumn Friday and decided to make it an overnight getaway. Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel proved the perfect host.
After a late-morning train ride from Pennsylvania to New York and a short cab trip to the centrally located property, we soon found ourselves waiting at reception in the busy lobby. We were early and our rooms were not yet ready, so we stored our luggage and set out for lunch and an afternoon at the Museum of Modern Art. When we returned later, our room was ready. I checked us in and my friend grabbed our bags, and within minutes we were in the room.
Guest Quarters: Our double room held two beds separated by a large nightstand. The lamp had built-in electrical outlets, which I love. Immediately upon entering we found the bathroom to the left, offering a tub/shower, toilet and vanity. I was impressed by the amenities offered, which included a mini loofah — a first for me when it came to in-room amenities. There was ample space for two women to stretch out, spread our belongings and get ready without toppling over one another. Other features of the room included a dresser, a mounted TV and a cocktail table with two chairs.
Our room afforded us access to the 44th-floor Sheraton Club Lounge, offering private seating, city views, Starbucks coffee drinks and snacks throughout the day. We also enjoyed complimentary WiFi and a full breakfast spread.
Of note: My friend and I both remarked how quiet the room was and what a solid night of sleep we received, considering the hotel’s location smack dab in hectic and loud Times Square.
Services/Amenities: Sadly, my one-night stay didn’t allow for much exploration of the hotel, but for those with more time, there’s plenty to experience. The fitness center offers state-of-the-art equipment daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. On-site dining options include Hudson Market for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Hudson Market Bistro for dinner; Link@Sheraton Café; Lobby Lounge & Library Bar; and room service. The hotel recently renovated its ample meeting and event space.
The Experience: For travelers to the Big Apple looking for a central location, Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel can’t be beat with its setting at the heart of Times Square. The property offers a quiet, comfortable stay close to all the action.
