Starwood Hotels & Resorts expanded its presence in the Dominican Republic this month with the opening of Sheraton Santo Domingo Hotel. Located on Avenida George Washington, the city’s luxurious waterfront close to its downtown and business district, the property is situated approximately 30 minutes from Las Americas International Airport. Formerly known as Melia Santo Domingo, the 255-room hotel completed a $12 million renovation before re-opening. Guest amenities include a fitness center, steam rooms, a massage facility, a sauna, several dining venues and 22,500 square feet of meeting and event space, including 11 conference rooms. Sheraton Santo Domingo is Starwood’s third property in the Dominican Republic, joining the recently opened Four Points by Sheraton Punta Cana Village and The Westin Punta Cana Resort & Club.
