The international real estate investment and management company Kor Group announced the beginning of construction on the new luxury lifestyle hotel, Santa Monica Proper. The hotel will be managed and branded by the luxury lifestyle hotel operator Proper Hospitality and is slated to open in winter 2018/2019.

The 271-room hotel is located blocks away from the Pacific Ocean in downtown Santa Monica. The property is set to include interior design elements by international style icon Kelly Wearstler; dining options by local culinary stars; a rooftop lounge and swimming pool; 8,000 square-feet of meeting and event space; and 7,000 square-feet of ground-floor retail.

The hotel is being renovated from the original 1928 six-story Spanish Colonial Revival-style building, and will feature a new modern seven-story building, merging the classic and contemporary designs. The Santa Monica Proper Hotel will become the hub of downtown Santa Monica’s epicenter for lifestyle — business, entertainment, leisure, retail, innovation and technology.
