Salt Hotels expands its portfolio to the Midwest with the opening of The West Hotel in Minneapolis in 2023. Created in collaboration between some of the industry’s most creative and acclaimed talents locally and worldwide, the new hotel lies steps from the Mississippi riverfront in Minneapolis’ North Loop.

With 123 rooms situated in a modern structure integrating four historic buildings, guests experience a blend of two designs. From custom-designed, contemporary wooden cabinetry and furniture to expansive windows, guests can soak in endless views of the city in luxury. Rooms also boats clean lines, lush fabrics, amenity-filled bathrooms and commissioned original artwork.

The expansive lobby sits in a former brass foundry and features communal workspaces, a fireside lounge, library and bar. Also within the hotel, guests can find a stone cellar cocktail bar, a rooftop bar with an outdoor terrace, an outdoor dining patio and six flexible event spaces. As expected, the same intuitive service and design inspired by local culture found at other Salt Hotels will grace this property, as well.

Local James Beard Award-winning chef Tim McKee spearheads the hotel’s signature restaurant with Basque-inspired foods. Incorporating flavors and ingredients of northern Spain, with a special focus on San Sebastian, many dishes are cooked over charcoal. Chef McKee also announced his soon-to-launch Eastern Mediterranean-inspired bakery, which will also open in the hotel.
