Maybe you prefer “enhance” to “invade,” — but whatever you like to say, the newly opened Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel Hotel has eight automated “beings” on staff. Measuring 4 feet in height, each autonomous TUG robot was created by Aethon.

Duties include augmenting the services offered by the hotel’s human staff, such as an official “wayfinding” robot that escorts guests to first-floor destinations. Seven other robots perform a variety of functions, including delivering luggage, room service, linens and other items to the property’s 288 rooms and suites. The robots can also call for elevators, open service doors and navigate their own paths to and from charging docks.
