Following the recent lift of the state of emergency in Rhodes, Greece, in response to a bout of devastating wildfires, Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis hopes to welcome visitors back to the destination, especially those whose trips were cut short. It was reported more than 19,000 travelers were evacuated from the island during the wildfires and heat waves.
Mitsotakis offers travelers a redo of sorts for those whose trips were canceled or altered. “For all those whose holiday was cut short as a result of wildfires, the Greek government in cooperation with local authorities will offer one week of free holidays on Rhodes, next spring or next fall, so that we make sure the come back to the island,” announced Mitsotakis.
While no additional details have been provided on how Mitsotakis plans to enact this, many are excited to see what this free vacation package entails. The Greek government has already initiated a series of talks with stakeholders including travel agencies, hotels, airlines and tour operators to make this possible. More news regarding the offer is expected later this month, in which a digital tailor-made platform will be made for claimants of the package.

Sep 30, 2026Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley
Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
