ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: After an overnight flight on Condor Airlines, I set off on my journey to Tegernsee, a resort town in Bavaria. Around mid-afternoon I arrived at Althoff Seehotel, where a warm welcome of smiling faces greeted me. I didn’t have to worry about getting my bags from the car because they were already taken out and heading up to my room. Despite a large conference going on in the lobby and entrance, after a smooth and quick check-in I was escorted to my room.

GUEST QUARTERS: Walking into my suite, I was stunned. Near the entrance was a single bath with marble tile throughout. To get into the main area of the suite, I walked down a hallway lined with closets offering plenty of storage space, a hidden safe, umbrellas, hangers, cushions for the patio furniture, laundry bags and more. At the end of the hallway the living area featured a couch, two chairs, a coffee table, TV, stunning flowers and décor, a delicious spread with popular German snacks and beer, a full-length mirror, and access to the spacious balcony.

The sleeping area had a king-sized bed, a desk, even more closet space, a lounge chair and another way to access the balcony. Just off the bedroom sat the full bath with a double vanity, bathtub with a Swarovski starry sky, separate rain shower and a private area for the toilet. The balcony was my favorite part; every chance I had, I sat outside to soak up the warm weather and breathtaking views. With the hotel sitting on Lake Tegernsee and surrounded by the Alps, the views were endless.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: Every morning I took advantage of the included breakfast and enjoyed eggs, bacon and the freshest fruit. The hotel boasts five dining options for guests, all offering something a little different, as well as a lobby bar perfect for grabbing delicious cocktails and small bites. Even though my trip was jam-packed, I still managed to take time to get a relaxing facial at 4 Elements Spa. Guests can also take advantage of the hotel’s indoor and outdoor pools, two whirlpools, wellness bar with healthy snacks and fresh juices, private beach on Lake Tegernsee, on-site shops, and easy access to the surrounding town.
