A recent study names the best destinations in the United States and United Kingdom for travelers who cannot bear to leave dogs behind.
The study from comparethemarket.com analyzes the amount of dog salons, training centers, kennels and parks relative to the total population of a city.
In the United States, Long Beach, California; Mesa, Arizona; Atlanta, Georgia; Sacramento, California; and Seattle, Washington, top the list. Long Beach has 985 dog-training centers, more than 445 kennels and 259 grooming salons. On the East Coast, Atlanta has 65 open parks for dogs and owners to explore.
Rounding out the top 25 ranked cities in the United States are Chicago, Tucson and Baltimore. Across the United States, different destinations offer a number of activities for owners and dogs to participate in, from dog yoga to nose work, where dogs learn how to sniff out different smells.
In the United Kingdom, Nottingham takes the No. 1 spot. Liverpool, Hull, Birmingham and Edinburgh round out the top five. Wolverhampton, Swindon and Northampton round out the top 25.
In the United Kingdom, sheepdog training, crime scene investigation training and plentiful dog-friendly restaurants make it dog-friendly.
