Perfectly positioned in Portugal’s stunning coastal Algarve region, the peaceful Quinta dos Perfumes is close to the towns of Tavira, Conceição and Cabanas within the Natural Park of Ria Formosa. Originally the site of a small mallow farm producing flowers that were distilled for the perfume industry during the 1950s and 60s, the 36–acre farm has been transformed into a luxury boutique hotel set amid orchards of sweetly scented arbutus, lemon, walnut, fig and carob trees. Each of the six sunny guestrooms, five studio suites with kitchenettes and one double room has its own terrace. Guests can enjoy swimming in the pool, relaxing in the outdoor “living room” with reading spaces, a fireplace and television, and cycling, yoga, spa treatments or personal training (available by appointment). Babysitting services are also available. There’s no dining room on site, but a plethora of restaurant options are close at hand, and reservation help is offered. Nearby, the region’s famous golden cliffs and white beaches offer boat tours, dolphin-watching expeditions, bird watching, kite surfing, kayaking, diving and sport fishing. There’s also plenty of golf, with three area courses: Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima and Quinta de Benamor.
