Princess Cruises, in its 10th annual relaxation survey, found more than half of those surveyed are not getting enough sleep — findings consistent with last year’s data. However, in 2019, there has been an increase in individuals taking vacation days in order to catch up.

The survey says U.K. adults are the most sleep-deprived in the world, followed by adults in Singapore, Australia, the United States and China. Adults in Vietnam, China and Mexico take the most days off per year to catch up on sleep, an average of 10 days in each country.

The survey also discovered working parents are more likely than working non-parents to take a week or more off every year to catch up on sleep.

The survey looked at overall relaxation and days off from work. Data showed 85 percent of adults set aside time specifically for relaxation on a weekly or more often basis. Working people who are married or in a committed relationship are more likely to use all of their paid time off in a year.

While adults in the United Kingdom are the most sleep-deprived, they’re also the best at using all of their available vacation days. Australians are the worst at taking all of their available vacation days.
