In the wake of the Boeing 737 Max groundings, 400 pilots are suing the aircraft manufacturer, claiming it knew about the plane’s technical issues.
The class action lawsuit claims the pilots suffered “financial and other losses arising from the circumstances and grounding of the MAX fleet.”
All Boeing 737 Max planes were grounded in March after two deadly crashes involving the model. The pilots said their income has been “adversely affected” and their careers are uncertain.
The two law firms representing the pilots said the filing, which happened during last month’s Paris Air Show, was intended to “send a message to Boeing that its desire for aircraft sales must never again impact on aviation safety.”
The pilots claim Boeing was involved in an “unprecedented cover-up of the known design flaws of the MAX, which predictably resulted in the crashes of two MAX aircraft and subsequent grounding of all MAX aircraft worldwide.”
The lawsuit claims the pilots filing the claim “continue to suffer significant lost wages, among other economic and non-economic damages.”
