ONYX Hospitality Group is expanding to Japan with its first-ever property in the country.
The hospitality group is set to open Amari Niseko, a 126-room resort, to let visitors revel in the destination all year long. The hotel is set for a 2024 opening and is the centerpiece of a mixed-use development in Hirafu.
Aruku-zaka Street will feature the new hotel and a number of lifestyle, retail and dining options. The entire property will boast excellent views of nearby Niseko.
“Originally from Thailand, Amari has been going places and introducing its unique take on contemporary Thai-ness to new markets like the Maldives, Malaysia, China and Sri Lanka in recent years. We are excited to be introducing our flagship brand to yet another new destination with the signing of our very first hotel in Japan,” said Douglas Martell, president and CEO, ONYX Hospitality Group.
In the past three years, the Amari brand expanded in several countries including Sri Lanka, Malaysia, China and Laos.
People need a “chance to get some well-needed rest, relaxation and fresh air.” This is a sentiment we all likely share, as does the European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union. The EC included that phrase when it released its plan to help reopen Europe following the COVID-19 global pandemic. While most EU borders remain closed to international travel until at least mid-June, the EC’s plan starts with inter-Europe travel, and are non-binding recommendations and guidelines. European countries still have the final decision, so travelers are advised to check the restrictions of the countries they plan to visit. According to the EC, “blanket restrictions of free movement are replaced by targeted measures.”
