Pack your favorite sweaters and enjoy the autumn season in New York, where color-drenched landscapes set the stage for numerous activities.

“New York State residents and visitors are fortunate each fall to have a front-row seat to nature’s spectacular show of color,” said Ross D. Levi, executive director of tourism, I LOVE NY. “Each week brings changing hues and temperatures that welcome both outdoor and indoor activities.

From Woodstock pumpkins to beers to the harvest moon, there is a festival or event each weekend to put everyone in the autumn mood. I LOVE NY’s weekly fall foliage reports give travelers the inside track for the best time to plan a getaway.

Until Oct. 29 Spooky Island offers scares zones  including The Upstate Ripper and Disciples of Darkness. This popular haunted carnival is held at Schaghticoke Fairgrounds in Saratoga.

Also until Oct. 29, Peace, Love & Pumpkins at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in the Catskills includes an exhibition of hand-carved pumpkins that have been turned into mythical creatures and fascinating characters. Warm drinks and snacks are also available.

Take a boating excursion with Clayton Island Tours to Grindstone Island, part of Thousand Islands. Tours to this picturesque island include a 15-minute boat trip to and from the island, ground transportation, a winery tour and afternoon tastings in a serene rural setting. There’s also a stop at the Lowerhouse School Heritage Museum.

Book a wellness-based stay at Hemlock Neversink in the Catskills, where the 230-acre property includes 33 guest rooms, divine dining options and a heavenly nature-focused spa. In Bridgehampton on Long Island, the luxury boutique Topping Rose House introduced AIREM, a Korean medical aesthetic spa offering clinical-grade skincare treatments and wellness therapies.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
