The Broome, a 14-room-and-suite boutique hotel in SoHo, Manhattan, has begun its next chapter with the opening of its new restaurant and bar this July, followed by its newly designed rooms and suites this month.
Centered around one of Manhattan’s most remarkable inner courtyards, Broome has long offered a rare sense of calm in the heart of lower Manhattan. This next chapter builds on that spirit, transforming the intimate property into a true gathering place for hotel guests, neighbors and the broader SoHo community.
Interior designers thoughtfully reimagined Broome as a sequence of experiences rather than a single design statement. Set within an 1825 SoHo building, the renovation unfolds in layers, beginning with the property’s historic red-brick façade and moving gradually from the collective energy of the street toward the intimacy of private retreat. At its center sits a hidden courtyard, the social heart of the hotel, linking the lobby, bar, restaurant and guestrooms into a single narrative, while each space retains its own distinct mood. Public rooms are richly layered with art, books and collected objects for an atmosphere that feels gathered over time rather than staged, while guestrooms shift register entirely, conceived as the imagined home of a well-traveled New Yorker, favoring warmth, texture and comfort.
Broome offers boutique amenities, a Parisian-style café and an open-air courtyard. Rooms and suites are outfitted with Citiquiet soundproof windows. Several rooms look out on to the hotel’s private patio, and the Penthouse suite extends the outdoor experience further with a private terrace and balcony. Together, these details reinforce Broome’s identity as a tranquil oasis.
At the heart of Broome’s transformation is an entirely new restaurant concept, Broome Restaurant. Opened to the public this past July, Broome Restaurant is inspired by the sophistication of New York, the warmth of the Mediterranean and the timeless charm of the French countryside.
The menu is rooted in classic French culinary tradition and shaped by the seasonality and vibrant flavors of Mediterranean dining. Built around seasonal produce, seafood, grilled meats, fresh herbs and a thoughtfully curated wine list, the menu is designed for both everyday enjoyment and special occasions. The restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, with brunch service to follow in a later phase.
Central to the experience is breakfast, reserved exclusively for hotel guests and their personal guests to preserve the intimate atmosphere defining Broome. Served in the courtyard when weather permits, the offering includes a shared breakfast board of sourdough, brioche, croissant, daily pastries and a selection of cheeses, alongside a choice of main course, from Eggs Benedict with cured salmon and toasted brioche to a truffle scrambled croissant, Japanese soufflé pancake, or traditional malabi milk pudding with rosewater and pistachios.
The reopening marks the most significant evolution in the property’s recent history, and the formal launch of real estate investment firm 18 Main’s flagship New York City property, with plans to open several additional hotels in select U.S. cities over the coming years.
The vision behind Broome’s next chapter is being guided by Sanado, a hospitality professional with more than a decade of experience across fine dining, restaurant development and hotel operations.
“At its core, my vision for Broome is to create a space that naturally becomes part of people’s lives,” said Sanado. “Built in 1825, the hotel offers a rare sense of calm, intimacy, and understated luxury, a place where guests can stay, dine, gather, and disappear from the city for a few hours, even as the neighborhood moves at its own pace just beyond the courtyard gate.”
Carson Ray is the general manager of Broome’s restaurant, bringing years of experience across New York City’s hospitality industry. Known for his hands-on leadership style and love of hospitality, he helped develop and launch Broome’s food and beverage program.
