Washington, D.C.’s, latest museum is underway. The new and expanded International Spy Museum is slated to relocate to L’Enfant Plaza near the National Mall and the Southwest Waterfront’s Wharf. “The International Spy Museum has long been a destination for residents and visitors, finding innovative ways to keep us connected with our past. The new Spy Museum will be a welcome addition to Southwest as we continue to attract businesses and expand economic opportunity,” said Muriel Bowser, mayor, District of Columbia. The new construction is situated in front of a glass atrium. A glass panel will suspend in front of exhibition space so visitors and passersby alike are visible on each side. The building’s exterior will also take inspiration from the museum’s themes of espionage and secrecy. When the museum opens in early 2018, it will include significantly expanded exhibit and educational space, alongside a theater and event space. It is expected the new operation will require staff growth of 20 percent. During construction, the International Spy Museum continues to operate at 800 F Street NW.
