Avalon Waterways, Europe’s only fleet of suite ships, expects to debut its newest class of vessels, the 128-passenger Avalon Artistry II and the 166-passenger Avalon Expression, in April and May. The company announced last week it also plans to launch three new river ships in 2014. The Avalon Impression, Avalon Illumination and Avalon Poetry II will bring the line’s total number of suite ships to eight.

International Expeditions plans to launch a 31-passenger river cruise ship on the Peruvian Amazon this summer. The new vessel, which has not yet been named, will feature 15 outward-facing cabins with private balconies, furniture handcrafted by Peruvian artisans, a multimedia lecture room, a fitness center, kayaks, a 1,000-square foot observation deck and a nightly reception with complimentary Peruvian cocktails, wine and beer.
