Marked by a delivery ceremony in Basel, Switzerland, Viking’s luxury-forward fleet has been expanded with two new river ships: Viking Honir and Viking Thoth. Founded in 1997 and the recipient of more than 450 awards, Viking has become the go-to choice for luxury sailing suited to travelers passionate about culture, cuisine, science and history.
“We are proud to welcome the Viking Honir and the Viking Thoth to our growing river fleet,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman and CEO, Viking. “With the arrival of these elegant new ships, we are pleased to offer even more curious travelers the opportunity to explore some of the world’s most iconic waterways in Viking comfort.”
Viking Honir — a Viking Longship — is set to sail the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers. With 95 staterooms capable of hosting 190 guests, the ship’s decor reflects Viking’s signature Scandinavian design with a squared bow; three full decks; indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace; asymmetric corridor; and true two-bedroom suites. For her first year, she’ll sail beloved itineraries that include Rhine Getaway, Christmas on the Rhine and Passage to Eastern Europe.
Viking Thoth was constructed specifically with the Nile River in mind. She’s the choice for Pharaohs & Pyramids, and an identical sister ship to Viking Osiris, Viking Aton, Viking Sobek, Viking Hathor and Viking Amun. Onboard accommodations include 41 staterooms for a maximum of 82 guests.
Viking’s stylish fleet of river and ocean vessels continues to grow, with a projected addition of 23 river ships by 2028, and 10 more ocean ships by 2031. Curious? Get a taste by tuning into livestreams and other content on the Viking TV channel.
