Five years ago, the Atlas Fire destroyed several buildings on the Roy Estate property in Napa, California, only just sparing the vines. Now, the estate officially rises from the ashes as Napa’s newest luxury estate for wine lovers to best enjoy the region.

Conceived by Stephan Cretier, La Residence from Roy Estate is the new crown jewel of the 42-acre, single-vineyard estate. The building will serve as the proprietors’ Napa residence, an exclusive guest house for Roy Estate’s V.I.P. members and as a hospitality/event space and the winery’s formal tasting room. Bedrooms and personal retreat spaces blur the line between indoor and outdoor with open-air layouts and floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as mirrors and other light details to emphasize the beauty of the region. Spanning 16,000 square feet, the building combines classic Napa luxury with a global approach with minimalist and modern elements found throughout. The residence also features small nods to the fire in 2017.

Estate Chef Tom Stafford concocted a carefully executed food program using local ingredients and simple cooking techniques to showcase the best flavors from Northern California. Within the estate also lies the Tank Room, a workshop where the founders can investigate new flavors and fermentations to create even more innovative wines for guests to try. Guests can book an experience through the winery via appointment.
